The Most Diverse Food and Drink in the World

Noodles in chop suey sauce packed into convenient paper boxes? Indian curry and roti canai eaten on banana leaf? A 5-star gourmet experience at the top of the Shard or in the heart of Mayfair? Asian cuisine is one of the most diverse cuisines.

It reflects an incredible breadth of cultures and people living across many continents. There are dishes born out of need and practicality, some born out of pure imagination, some that feel like they should have remained purely in imagination (;P), and there are many that just are amazingly delicious.

What makes us very happy is seeing more equal footed diffusion of culture between East and West. While 7 years ago, Asian food would conjure up imaginations of fridge leftovers and cheap curiosities eaten in side streets, now there is a proliferation of eateries dealing with all kinds of Asian food and drinks.

Being Malaysian ourselves, we love the sight of dynamic new eateries bringing authentic Southeast Asia to the UK: some of our favourites are Rasa, Dapur, Putera Puteri, Halia, Laxsa, Laksamania, and Roti King. There are many interesting concepts blending traditional Southeast Asia with modernity, such as Kiln, Smoking Goat, Lao Cafe, to name but a few.

When it comes to Southeast Asian drinks, the wave of innovation has just started. Tropical drinks are still by and large limited to a singular template of pineapple, lime juice, and vaguely oriental sounding names. The most recent craze is coconut water, or more rarely the yuzu. Come on! Southeast Asia is home to rainforests, some of the most lifegiving ecosystems, and they host some of the most diverse flora on Earth.

We see a powerful wave happening across the pond, by the enigmatic Sanzo (we love your work, keep doing what you are doing Sandro!). We mirror the vision here in the UK, bringing authentic Southeast Asia to the UK, in the form of quality, delicious sparkling fruit drinks made with 100% hand pressed Malaysian fruit. We are named Tapping Tapir after the reclusive, endangered, and distinctly Malaysian mammal (what does it tap though? That is a question for you, our reader), and our starter range in the UK contains Hibiscus and Lime, Guava and Lemongrass, Pineapple and Calamansi, and Lemonade and Galangal Ginger.

Our drinks started life in Malaysia as a modern brand utilising the best local farmers have to offer, marrying the best of Southeast Asia quality with the modern dynamism of modern Western drink brands. Our drinks are amazing on their own, as they are vegan friendly, organic and never contain any concentrate. They are also perfectly suited for a new wave of Asian cocktails, can you imagine sipping on a Hibiscus Lime mojito while watching Love Island? Or a Guava Lemongrass infused gin and tonic while enjoying the warm summery weather in the garden?

We have just launched a month ago, and to make sure you don’t spend any more than necessary on delivery to get our drinks, we deliver all orders at a flat rate of £1 across England, no matter how much you order or where you live.
